Opening Day 2010

Every 2 weeks or so, I'll be putting out a blog post about major league baseball. Today's topic is opening day.
The first game of 2010 is Sunday night, as the Red Sox and the Yankees battle. I think this is going to be awesome, because both are division contenders, they are huge rivals, and C.C. Sabathia vs Josh Beckett is an awesome match up. In the NL, the Phillies should have no problem taking down the Nats. The Brewers play the Rockies. I think the Rockies might be a sleeper this year. Tulowitzki is underated, and Todd Helton is always hot at the beginning of the year. The Cubs play the Atlanta Braves, and I think that the Braves could win the Wild Card. Prospect Tommy Hanson could help power the Braves to the playoffs. The Cubs have new pitcher Carlos Silva and new outfielder Marlon Byrd, but both of them suck. Newsflash - the Cubs do too. The White Sox start their season out vs the Indians. Buehrle is a great pitcher but he collapsed at the end of last year. I think Sox fans should be really excited about Peavy. He has a devastating slider and could be a huge hit in Chicago.
Thats all for now.

I would not underestimate the power of Buehrle, he's not just good, he's good enough to pitch a world series, a no-hitter, and I don't know if you remember, but the only reason that he won fantasy baseball last year, is because the guy threw a perfect game. I think the Sox, on both sides will be forces. Also, the Yankees are gonna suck because they suck and they are all sucky. Suck.

1. Correction to Sam - if you take out Buehrle's perfect game points, we still would have won the fantasy baseball league. Hence our name "Didn't need Buerhle." He is an overrated junk baller who gets lucky once a year.

2. Gecko man, I think the Cubs will be better than you think. Marlon Byrd is a a good addition (better than Davis and Hawkins who are meager additions), Soriano could come back to form, as could Soto.

Dad, how could you? The additions of Gomez, Wolf, Hawkins, Davis, Escobar, and Edmonds are wayyyy better than the addition of byrd (an average hitter).
Soriano is washed up, too.

Yes, the whole package of Brewer off season pickups is better than the Cub's pick ups - but they underperfomed last year and Hawkins and Davis will not live up to their billing. Long live Manny Parra!

no, hawkins was a good pickup
